SAM YOUNG (AERIAL RIGGER)

Sam Young was a founder member of the Directorate, having joined the organisation after being seconded from the National Fire Service during World War II. After the war, he went on to supervise the Aerial Rigging Teams and was actively engaged in mast climbing and aerial installation work.

Sadly, he passed away in June 1974.

His obituary appeared in Intercom 6 page 11 and is shown again below, together with three other photographs that were kindly provided by Martin Swift.
