Pye F460

A dual base station known as the Pye F460, this well engineered solid state equipment was first used by many Police Forces as their primary UHF communication to officers carrying PF1 pocketphones. In this case, it would have been used as an emergency scheme operating in the 450-470 MHz band.

Behind the F460 looks very much like a Creed 444 Teleprinter. In my humble view a lovely piece of engineering, very heavy and operated at 50 baud. I used one during my amateur radio days in the early 1980's and also as my first computer printer. In the end it had to go as it took up too much space in the shack!
