Vehicle Installation Design Group

WARC

 World Administrative Radio Conference. In the context of references made in this web site, it is likely that it refers to the conference held in 1979 which had a major impact on radio spectrum assigned to police and fire services and the subsequent move out of the 100 MHz band.

WM

Wireless Mechanic. This grade was apparently introduced around 1963 to undertake vehicle installation work, thus freeing up the WT to concentrate on duties relating to Directorate equipment.
