LOCATIONS (Depot Map)

Introduction
Over time, the Directorate expanded its operation within England and Wales to meet growing demands to provide communication services.

This  sub-section outlines where establishments were created, their purpose  and where applicable, when they were closed, or transferred to ntl  following the 1994 trade sale.

Major Establishments
As listed in the table opposite.

Other Establishments
During the late 1960's and early 70's, the Directorate set up some sixty outstations. Their purpose was to provide a localised first-line service to customers in a given county, with back-up and specialist support  provided by the parent depot.

The areas covered are shown in the map  opposite.
