Middleton Court P2/5 (late 70's)

A workhorse issued to the regions during the mid 1970's, the Ford Cortina Estates were a massive improvement on the earlier Morris 1000 vans, especially for engineering staff who had geographically large areas to cover!

Seen here is Andy Twose (Shapwick Region SWT) about to close the gate as Bob Carter WT drives the car out of Middleton Court radio site.

Thanks to Liz Twose for writing in to say that it was her husband who was in this picture closing the gate. Andy worked at Shapwick for 10 years until 1979. Liz herself worked for the Directorate for some 16 years until 1980 as Secretary to the RWE's of that period, Jack Nelson and then Bill Doran.
