DIRECTORATE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS
WARC PROJECT

This section contains a draft of an article which is thought to have been written in 1989 or early 1990. I do not have any information as to how widely this article was distributed, but I suspect it was written as a press release, perhaps to coincide with the renaming of the Directorate to DTELS.

If anyone knows differently, or has a later version, please contact me and I will update this page accordingly.

Douglas_Hurd_Letter

Document Source: Mike Phillips. Added to Site on 19 February 2007
Letter dated 1st August 1989 from the then Home Secretary, Douglas Hurd, to the Director, Tony Pearson, thanking the Directorate staff for completing the WARC Frequency Change Programme on time. This was probably the last major project that the Directorate successfully carried out before being privatised in 1994.
