Re: Eddie Mole

I knew Eddie well, he was one of the main stays of Cranbrook depot. I can remember Eddie, Fred Pickard and me going out in heavy snow to rescue a team stuck at Cossington. Plus us working together in the PC workshop. He was a good guy with a keen sense of humour and would help anybody that needed as...

Re: DAVE PACK (SWT - GUILDFORD DETACHMENT)

Dave was well respected within the Hannington Region both technically and as a person. As an SWT at Hannington I always found him to be very helpful when I was working on his patch.

RIP Dave

Re: FRED PICKARD (CWT - CRANBROOK)

Sad news. Before working for the Home Office Fred was employed by the Air Ministry at the Beachy Head Radar Station. He joined the Home Office as a Technician at Cranbrook in the early 1960’s. He remained at Cranbrook and was promoted to a SWT in the late 1960’s taking over the installation team fro...

Re: Who's on the site?

Hello Bob, I was made redundant in Dec 1992 whilst at Weyhill. I went on to work with Vodafone firstly as a Senior Tec and the finally Principal Quality Engineer / Quality Controller mainly on business related areas. Though I had technical input on the quality of the work carried out by contractors ...

Hello Allan, Will done, sound like all worked out ok after privatisation for you. Ok about your QTH, sound good for amateur radio. Yes I ended up as a principal with Vodafone. Then took early retirement and went to work for another outfit. I work part time now. Hmm-- I know all about business cases,...

Steve,

Good one, as it bought back quite a few memories of Cranbrook in the late 1960's.

First London Depot - Lawrie Atkinson

Hello Lawrie, For info - Back in the 1960's there was a radio scheme for the London Fire services. It had different channels and ops rooms for the different London areas. One of the main sites south of the river was maintained by Cranbrook and I believe the mobiles by the fire service themselves. We...

It was all housed in a lar...
