Re: JON ROGERS (ROMSLEY)
I got to know Jon when he became the technical guru on Coastguard systems. He was one of the few who shared his knowledge and experience with everyone without any reservations, was always available at the end of a phone guiding you through resolving a fault. An absolute gentleman, I'm sure he will be sorely missed by all who ever met him.

Re: JON ROGERS (ROMSLEY)
I have known Jon for many years and in the latter period we worked together managing the Maritime Coastguard Agency contract. I held Jon in the highest regard for his strong sense of duty and responsibly to service and can recount many occasions when Jon was called to provide technical support at the front end. Much appreciated by so many and appropriately recognised by the MCA with his award for service above and beyond.
I maintained infrequent contact over my retirement years with Jon until he mentioned his medical condition thereafter for some months I have renewed our contact and have followed his path until this sad day has arrived.
Jon fought his cursed cancer with quiet strength and dignity throughout and I will always be grateful for having known him as a friend and colleague.
Taken too soon my friend.

JON ROGERS (ROMSLEY)
I’m really sorry to say an email was received earlier today from Jon’s wife Wendy to say Jon died yesterday morning, 30 October 2024.
My personal recollections are first meeting when he joined DTELS as a TET in the 1980s and was posted onto the installation team, where I was SWT. He quickly became a very reliable and capable installation technician. We continued to work together, and throughout WARC, after which Jon left to run the radio workshops at West Mids Fire, where a cuppa and chat was always available.
One of his favourite stories was being photographed ‘in action’ aligning a BE527 for publicity photos, with the set clearly switched off…!
A few years later he rejoined us and, amongst other roles, became the senior engineer on the HMRC contract. This was role in which he was very much admired by the HMRC comms staff and where he received an award for his selfless response to a major fault after a lightning strike. He left Telent 5 (?) years ago and was enjoying spending time with his his family, on his allotment and on his photography and radio-related interests.
We met up with Jon’s boss, Andy Cuckow, just a few months ago in a pub near RY and I had been in regular email contact with Jon until just last week. I will update with funeral arrangements once known. RIP Jon, M2RY29, one of the best in the business…
