I am saddened to read about the passing of Malcolm, he was 5 years younger than me !
I first met Malcolm in the early 1970's when he came to the Brierley Hill (West Midlands Police) out station on detached duty.
He fitted in strait away with all the Home Office and police personnel at that location and we all had a great working and social relationship.
Steven has outlined the rest of the moves though his working life and I know that he will be sadly missed by his family.
Rest in peace Malcolm.

MALCOLM LEVY (WT - ROMSLEY)

Post by Steven Cole »

It is with great sadness that I have to report the death of Malcolm Levy aged 65. He passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday 16th April 2015.

I first met Malcolm at Romsley Depot when I started as a Wireless Technician in March 1970. I remember him as a lively and clever individual with a good sense of humour. He had joined the Directorate the previous year after studying for two years at Hull College and before that had spent a short period of time at Marconi Chelmsford.

I lost contact with Malcolm sometime around 1973 but believe he made a career thereafter in the field of telecommunications test equipment. We briefly met around 1983/84 when he was working for Racal Instruments and I was by then based at Maintenance Planning Group Weyhill. He then moved to the United States during 1984 and continued to work there until his death. He went on to become VP Sales & Marketing for Giga-tronics Incorporated before leaving the company in early 2012 to become the US representative of CFRS, a UK company based in Cambridge, then continued until he was no longer able to work following the discovery of his brain tumour at the end of 2013.

Malcolm was actively involved on the amateur radio bands with particular interest in the field of data communication. His US call-sign was (KO6SY) and when in the UK (G4ACU), previously (G8CSU).

Having been in contact with them recently I know he will be much missed by his wife and children. RIP Malcolm.

Steven...
