"In this magnified photo of the tower more detail can be seen of the bomber splinter damage. Note that the metal around the hole is bent upwards. Most probably caused during the Luftwaffe bombing of the site in 1940. Two of Cranbrook's aerial riggers originally brought this to my attention, after they had climbed the structure and seen it up close".
