Dunkirk

1990s - Kent Fire (Dunkirk) Site (3 of 3)

"Partial remains of other co-sited WWII tower bases. Interestingly, some of the wartime buildings were still standing and the small toilet block was still in use!  You can still see the remains of the other three 365ft RDF TX towers, albeit only the concrete foundations sticking up, after the demolition operation in the 1950's.

The remaining mast still looks an impressive site, and can be seen for miles around.

Apparently, before WWII, these RDF sites were referred to as 'A.M.E.S' - Air Ministry Experimental Sites, to help mask their true use, and were constructed by RAF teams from RAF Kidbrooke near London"
