Directorate of Telecommunications DEPOTS; General By: Steven R Cole
Introduction This part of the library contains the remaining collection of scanned photographs which cannot be catalogued at the time of being published on this site, but are thought to be associated with Directorate Field Services. The first batch of photographs to appear in this section are black and white and are pre-1970 era. The photographs were found in a box file during a clear out of my loft in early 2005. I believe these were retrieved from Ruddington HQ at the time of closure in 1994 and may have originated from either DTELS Library or DTELS Consultancy. More photos from this collection appear in the Equipment Section. Where information is available on either the prints or envelopes where applicable, this has been included in the caption text. The question of copyright is not clear to me, but those photographs with Oswald Kellett’s name and address stamped on the rear of the prints are assumed to have been taken by him, the rest are assumed to be crown unless someone can identify otherwise.
I would be very keen to hear from anyone who can shed more light on these photographs in respect missing detail relating to equipment, vehicles, location, persons names (ideally grade at the time) and estimated year. If you have any information, even educated guesses, please log-in to DTELS Forum and add a posting to ‘Boxfile Photograph Collection’ or email the Webmaster.
Update Since publication on this site, a number of the photos that appeared in this gallery have now been moved to the following pages: Bishops Cleeve MU - Shapwick Depot
Acknowledgements: Photos, Oswald Kellett’s name and address stamped on the rear of the prints and are assumed to have been taken by him. The remainder are assumed to be Crown, unless someone can identify otherwise .
