Introduction This gallery contains photographs of Bishops Cleeve Maintenance Unit covering a time span from 1970 until 1988.
Bishops Cleeve/Romsley Cricket Match May 1970 Tony Ketteringham has sent in his collection of photos taken at the time and comments as follows:
“This match was staged at Elmley Castle Cricket Club being the home village of CWT Ken Dearson. The match was won by Bishops Cleeve but there is no trace of the scorecard for the match. The Pocketfone Trophy was awarded to the winners.
A return match was held the following year: alas no records exist for this match photographic or otherwise. I believe the ‘Peter Pinel’ Trophy was awarded to the winners. The trophy utilised the striking silhouette of Peter seen in BC/Romsley TK10. Dave Palmer traced this outline onto a sheet of brass which was cut out and mounted on a base. I haven’t a clue what happened to either of the trophies.
All these photos were taken by me except for the ones where I’m batting!
And so a great day was had. We knew all the lunchtime practice sessions had paid off. A fine tea was laid on. Ken Dearson went home with bragging rights. And the challenge thrown down for a return match!”
